St. William Catholic Church, 6200 Rising Sun Ave., last weekend blessed its new elevator.

The elevator is in place to take parishioners from the first floor to the second-floor upper church and then back down again. Maximum capacity is 2,000 pounds.

The cost was $160,000.

Construction began in October 2021 and was completed earlier this month, with the Rev. Al Concha, church pastor, blessing the elevator at weekend Masses.

Concha thanked parishioners for contributing to the fund, along with facilities manager John Meehan and special projects business manager Tim Babbage for overseeing the project and working with the construction team. ••
